With the blur of the festive season and turn of the year now clearing we look back at some of the stats and stories that made 2018 another special year.
Not ashamed to boast!
Two big numbers stand out from our stats of 2018…21 million and 450 million:
- The first number – that’s 21 million – was the number of communications generated by our customer solutions during the year.
- The second number – that’s 450 million dollars – was the highest value single item (which set it’s own record!) communication generated by one of our customers during the year.
These enormous numbers both demonstrate the robustness and reliability of our solutions as well as our customer’s confidence in them and and us…and we’re not ashamed to boast!
GDPR – check
Demonstrating the importance of what we do for our clients and what our company means to us, getting GDPR ready became one of most important projects of 2018. Thankfully we started early, investing in staff training in 2017 and culminating in our CEO, Colin, being certified at GDPR Foundation level and our Project Manager (and now DPO), Lyndsey, at GDPR Practitioner level.
Undertaking a comprehensive review of our three core [TravelComms, CrisisComms and FinancialComms] solutions provided us the opportunity to sanity check existing functionality and code, explore new value-add capabilities and tighten security. The creation and launch of our new Audit Pack, immediately benefitted our clients with the assurance of full system and user activity monitoring. Receiving it for free under our unique Crowd Development Programme made it even more rewarding and appreciated.
As a parallel exercise, GDPR provided us internally with a similar opportunity to review our own practices. Helping our clients implement Data Processor Agreements with us and likewise implementing critical up-stream agreements with our technology partners gave both us and our clients enormous reassurance. The effort and time we invested working with CRIBB Cyber Security saw us proudly achieve IASME Governance certification, which included both Cyber Essentials and GDPR Readiness – all certified by an official GCHQ assessor.
A passport for charity
Away from the office, we did something quite special for charity…or in actual fact, charities…sponsoring and entering a team of 6 in the infamous Pass’Portes du Soleil.
Set over a 3 day period and with over 7,500 participants, the event is an enduring mountain-bike challenge covering a 92km circuit ranging from 1,000m to 2,250m across the French and Swiss alps throughout the Portes du Soleil. Whilst the team lost one of its most experienced riders from a shoulder and back injury, together they raised just short of £4,500 helping 4 highly important charities further invest in their commitment to finding cures and treating: muscle-wasting conditions, (Muscular Dystrophy UK), mental health issues (Mind), prostate cancer (Prostate Cancer UK) and the high stillbirth and neonatal death rate (Kicks Count). Once again, well done to all involved and big thanks to all those that supported them.
Ever committed to the industries we work within and the reach of our solutions, we joined two new trade associations. Becoming a CLIA Diamond Executive Partner took us to new shores to share our passion for powering customer experience with our TravelComms solution in the world of travel, in particular the cruise industry. And joining OpenPEPPOL further extends our FinancialComms‘ offering for cross-border eBilling.
